Elizabeth!

According to her society, because Elizabeth was barren, her life lacked purpose. However, through faith, she knew that God created her for a reason. Each of God’s creations are all masterpieces in his eyes. Therefore, instead of living with bitterness and suffering, she chose to trust that God had a plan for her. In the eyes of society, she was broken but she learned how to love, sympathize and care for others who shared the same condition with her. She also understood, as a woman, the deepest meaning of being a “natural mother”.

While I reflected on the Gospel of Luke, I was able to learn about Elizabeth. I saw that she reached out to women who were unable to conceive a child, mothers who have lost ties with their children and those who have been ridiculed and marginalized by society due to the actions of their kin. Elizabeth helped childless women realize that customs and social prejudices cannot drive them into everlasting hopelessness and depression. Through God’s Divine Providence women can realize their mission and life’s purpose.

Thanks, Elizabeth! Your spiritual gifts of faith, knowledge and wisdom carry God’s purposeful blessings. Please pray for me so I can be inspired by your faithful trust in God’s providence. I pray that I am able to identify my spiritual gifts so that I can heed God’s call on my life in an intentional way. Dear Lord, I ask for the ability to know and accept who I am. With humility, I will let you lead me. Increase my desire to follow your invitations to use my spiritual gifts and talents for your divine purpose of serving others.
